Wilted Chard with Onion

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large bunch swiss chard
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion, diced small
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Wash and drain chard. Cut out the large stems, trim the ends and cut them into thin slices. Cut the leaves into wide ribbons.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large, heavy pot or dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the onions and sauté for about 5 minutes or until soft. Add the stems and sauté for 5 minutes. Add the leaves and salt. Cook, stirring now and then until the leaves are tender. If the pan gets dry and the onions begin to stick or brown, add a little water.
