    Blackberry Cashew Butter Smoothie

    Cashew butter and blackberries go great together, so long as you can get the nut butter in the mix. The trick to getting any nut or seed butter properly mixed in to a smoothy, as opposed to just glommed onto in inside of you blender, is to use that handy little cap in the lid. Add the nut butter with the blender in motion and it will go into the mixture perfectly. And to be clear, I’m not telling you to take the whole top off. That would be a disaster! Just the small little cap that sits in the middle of the larger lid. This also works great for getting powders nicely incorporated, like the green supplement powder in this recipe.

    Oh wait, what the heck is green supplement powder?!. Glad you asked. It’s this fantastical little packet of the most wonderfully healthfully freeze dried goodness. You can pick up the cutest individual packets at your local health food store. Most varieties are vegan, but be sure to check the label. Try a few different ones out and commit to the larger size in one you’re sure you’ll enjoy. Below you’ll find a smattering of the varieties we have around our house. Amazing Grass and Garden of Life are good brands to start with. Beware of the super cheap ones. They have a lot of filler ingredients without much real nutritional value. There’s raw, different flavors, probiotic, and all sorts of perks so pick one that speaks to you.

    And be warned, blackberries stain. And by stain, I mean stain. For those of you with little people, this is an outside smoothie.
